How It Works
Submit a Referral
Express CU members complete our quick referral form and provide your name along with your friend or family member's name and email address.
We'll Contact Your Referral
We'll send them an email with information about how to open an account with Express Credit Union. You'll also receive a confirmation email and a copy of the message sent to your referral.
To Become a Member of Express CU
Your friend or family member must:
- Qualify for membership at Express CU – live or work in Washington State. Exceptions can be made for immediate family members like parents and children.
- Select "Referral Campaign" as their referral source during the application process
- Can apply online, in person or over the phone.

After the first 60 days, Express Credit Union will review the account activity to verify eligibility. Once verified, $100 will be deposited into both the referring member's savings account and the new member's savings account within approximately 75 days of account opening.

Refer a Friend Terms
Eligibility. You can apply for membership and open a checking account in person or online at ECU's website. Referring member must be 18 years or older, in good standing, and a primary on the account. Referred friend must not be an existing member, must be within ECU's field of membership, and be eligible to open and maintain membership. Not all applicants will qualify. Referred friends who were an ECU member during the past six months and are now rejoining ECU do not qualify for the Refer-a-Friend promotion.
Referral. Member making referral must complete referral form through website www.expresscu.org/about/refer-a-friend/. Then the referred friend must use the referral source "Referral Campaign" at time of application. ECU is not required to pay the promotional incentive for accounts opened without the referral form being completed by existing member.
Accounts must remain open and in good standing for at least 60 days. New member and referring member will receive the $100 bonus deposit to the Member Savings account within 75 days.
Prohibited Actions. The Refer-a-Friend promotion is designed to reward real referrals. Any attempts to manipulate, abuse, or game the promotion are strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to:
- Referrers who engage in a pattern of referring people who themselves refer others in a manner that suggests an attempt to circumvent the promotion's rules may be subject to disqualification and revocation of rewards.
- Collusion, fraudulent behavior, or any activity that violates the spirit of the promotion.
To prevent abuse, ECU may review data from individual applications and referrals to verify the legitimacy of the referred applications.
Reward Limitations. ECU will not deposit bonus funds to closed accounts or accounts not in good standing.
Audit Rights. ECU reserves the right to review referrals and deny rewards if fraudulent behavior or abuse is suspected. Rewards may be revoked if found to be in violation of our terms.
$100 bonus deposit will be reported for the new member as interest income to the IRS on Form 1099-INT at year-end and may be reported to the IRS on Form 1099-MISC for the referring member. ECU reserves the right to terminate this offer at any time. This promotion cannot be combined with any other promotions. ECU reserves the right to update or change the terms of the Refer-a-Friend promotion at any time to prevent collusion or abuse or adjust the eligibility criteria to better align with the promotion's intended use.
To meet the transaction requirements, you must open and maintain an active savings and checking account. New members have 60 days from the time of account opening to complete 8 or more qualifying transactions. Qualifying transactions must be made using an ECU checking account or with a linked ECU debit card: ATM deposits, transfers, and withdrawals; write checks or electronic checks; send ACH transactions, point of sale purchases; external or electronic deposits (direct deposit). Checks and electronic checks must clear account within 60 days of account opening.
